Planning ranges — final pricing confirmed November 2026.

Pricing

Every price on this page is a planning range. Your price is a fixed quote, issued after a scope review and approved before work starts.

Board design — planning ranges

Every design band buys a fabrication-ready hardware design package: schematic, PCB layout, BOM, and fab and assembly outputs, DRC/DFM-clean, with a design review at each stage. Built prototypes and tested prototypes are separate components (see "What a quote covers").

BandPlanning rangeWhat the price buysExample projectTypical size
Standard$6,000–$12,000Design package + power-tree calculations and a check against the vendor reference; follows the vendor reference's stackup and routing rules6-layer NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano carrier: 2 MIPI cameras, USB 3.2, Gigabit Ethernet, 9–20 V input, following NVIDIA's reference carrierup to ~1,000 pins, up to 6 layers
High-speed$12,000–$24,000Above + stackup and impedance plan agreed with your fab, and routing constraints for each high-speed interface8-layer single-board computer: applications processor with soldered-down LPDDR4X, PCIe Gen3 M.2, 2× Gigabit Ethernet, PMIC sequencing~1,000–2,000 pins, 8–10 layers
Complex$24,000–$48,000Above + SI/PI simulation of the critical interfaces agreed at scope review, power-sequencing and thermal checks, and a bring-up test plan12–14-layer FPGA board: DDR4 memory down, 10 GbE transceivers, jitter-cleaned clock tree, 50 A+ core rail2,000+ pins or 10+ layers

Limited modifications and narrowly defined board work get an individual fixed quote.

Your schedule is set in your fixed quote, from the scope we agree. Every quote states a start window, milestones, dependencies and acceptance criteria.

What places a project in a band: risk, not pin count. We look at:

  • interface speeds and topology
  • power sequencing, thermal load and mechanical density
  • how good the reference design is
  • how much simulation and verification the board needs
  • how much is proven reuse and how much is new engineering

Pins and layers are a secondary check. A module carrier (memory on the module) usually sits a band lower than a processor-plus-DDR board with the same interfaces.

Design reviews

Pre-fab schematic review — $1,500 fixed

  • One board, one schematic version, before you order fabrication.
  • Review areas agreed in writing before we start: for example power tree and sequencing, protection, interface connections and termination, part ratings and derating.
  • Findings ranked by severity, each with its evidence: sheet, net or reference designator, plus the datasheet line or calculation.
  • Each finding is labelled as a confirmed issue, a conditional risk or an intentional tradeoff.
  • A PDF report plus a findings table (CSV/XLSX).
  • One readout call of up to 60 minutes to walk through the findings, then 2 weeks of follow-up questions by email.
  • Corrections to our own report are free.
  • Re-checking your revised design after you change it is not included; we quote it separately if you want it.
  • For designs up to about 12 schematic sheets. Larger designs get a scoped quote.
  • Native Altium, KiCad and OrCAD/Allegro files are accepted.
  • Send files by a secure share link or as email attachments. We can sign your NDA, or send ours.
  • We keep your project files for 12 months after delivery, then delete them. We delete them earlier on request and confirm in writing.
  • Payment: 50% to start, 50% when the report is delivered.

Schematic + layout review — separately scoped, from $2,500.

Changes

Engineering change packages start at $1,500. Each proposal states scope, price, schedule impact and required verification before work begins. Related changes can be bundled.

We keep three things apart:

  • Corrections of our own errors are free.
  • Two feedback milestones are included in design projects: at schematic sign-off and at layout sign-off. If you want more, we price them into your quote up front.
  • Changes to requirements you have already approved are quoted as a change package, and you approve it before we start.

What a quote covers

Every quote lists five components. Each one is marked included, optional, excluded or customer-supplied, with who owns it and when it is done.

ComponentIn a typical quoteOwnerDone when
1. Schematic & layoutIncluded, priced by bandUsYou sign off schematic and layout; DRC/DFM clean; fab and assembly files released
2. BSP & firmwareExcluded — we don't sell itYour team or your software partnerYour criteria. We hand over the pin-mux table, device-tree notes and power-up sequence
3. Prototype & partsCustomer-supplied by default: you order fab and parts with our package. Managed build (complex boards only): we order for you; fab and parts at cost, prepaid by you, landed cost including tariffs, plus a stated management feeYou by default; us for a managed buildBoards delivered to you
4. Bring-up & testOptional fixed stage, quoted after fab releaseUs for hardware; software owner named in the quoteThe hardware acceptance tests listed in the quote pass
5. Revisions & done criteriaIncludedUs and youCorrections free; feedback milestones named; start window, milestones, dependencies and acceptance criteria stated; schedule, done criteria and file hand-over written into the quote

Board already built, but bring-up is stuck? We offer scoped debug. We quote it separately once we have access to the schematic, layout and BOM.

Any quote that includes bring-up or debug names:

  • who owns the software
  • the inputs we need (boot image or BSP build, tools, fixtures)
  • the software versions supported
  • the hardware acceptance tests

We are accountable for the tests named in the quote; we don't guarantee results beyond them.

How to start

Send a short project summary → a named engineer replies with fit and availability → a bounded proposal.

Fixed quote after scope review. No hourly billing, no surprise invoices.

Start with a short project summary.

A named engineer replies with a fit assessment, availability and the next step. Then you get a bounded proposal with a fixed price. No attachments needed yet.

Include

  • Board or module
  • Current stage
  • The concrete problem
  • The timing you need
  • Which design files exist

What happens next

1 · First reply
A named engineer: fit, availability and the next step.
2 · Files
NDA first if you want one: we sign yours or send ours.
3 · Bounded proposal
Scope, fixed price, start window, milestones, dependencies and acceptance criteria. You approve it before work starts.

Easiest first step: the pre-fab schematic review, $1,500 fixed. Custom design starts with a short qualification of scope and fit.
